Maintenance and management of insulators

2025-11-12

In humid weather conditions, dirty insulators are prone to flashover discharge, so they must be cleaned up and restored to their original insulation level. In general areas, one year
Clean once, and clean the polluted area twice a year (before the fog season).
1. Power outage cleaning
Power outage cleaning is when workers climb onto poles and wipe them with a cloth after a power outage. If it cannot be cleaned thoroughly, it can be wiped with a damp cloth or washed with detergent. If it still cannot be cleaned thoroughly, the insulator or composite insulator should be replaced.
2. Uninterrupted cleaning
Generally, insulation rods equipped with brushes or tied with cotton yarn are used to wipe insulators on operating lines. The electrical performance and effective length of the insulation rod used, as well as the distance between personnel and live parts, should comply with the corresponding voltage level regulations, and must be supervised by a dedicated person during operation.
3. Electric water flushing
There are two methods: large water flushing and small water flushing. The flushing water, effective length of the operating rod, and distance between personnel and live parts must comply with industry regulations.
